A very practical book and quite readable

A very practical book and quite readable. Having had some experience as a lawyer with clemency issues years ago, I wish that such a primer had been available at that time. There is not a lot of straight-forward literature on this unique area of law that can be readily understood and followed both by attorneys and the layman who might be impacted by the consequences of imprisonment and the actual processes to seek work release, clemency or parole. This book quickly zeroes in on what the attorney or a prisoner or its family needs to know.
“How to Leave Prison Early”: the content and purpose of the book is very simply summarized by its title. I definitely recommend it to anyone who needs to learn how (the legal ways!) to leave prison early.

For the Professional and the Layman, a Book Not to Be Missed!

Mr. Garcia's succinctly written book is straightforward and written in layman's terminology for everyone to understand. He supports his material with cites and examples, and gives step-by-step information to help families, friends and colleagues of inmates (and even attorneys who may not have much clemency experience) to help them get out of prison early.
Of particular interest is his involvement in a heartfelt, riveting and compelling case of deaf inmate, Felix Garcia (no relation), who was wrongfully convicted of armed robbery and first degree murder. With Mr. Garcia's assistance, and that of others who have stood by Felix over the years, hopefully he'll get out soon and justice will be served!
Though Mr. Garcia's book, How to Leave Prison Early, is geared toward Florida's clemency laws and regulations, its practical applications can be utilized in most clemency situations. Florida's state constitution states: "The Governor and members of the Cabinet collectively are the Clemency Board. Clemency is an act of mercy that absolves the individual upon whom it is bestowed from all or any part of the punishment that the law imposes." Every state has its own rules of executive clemency (some more lenient than others); therefore, if you're seeking information for your own use or for that of other interested parties, you should research your state's particular rules and regulations.

The book could have provided more detailed info on the mechanics of what it purports to do.A chapter is almost taken on the achievements of the author.As well as the bios of the commission members. Very little info on the actual subject title of the book.The author has written another book on the subject of pardons and other post conviction remedies.However, if it is along the same vein as this book-I will skip purchasing it. Undoubtedly the author is an expert on the subject matter,but this book really did not convey the information it should have.
