About the Author
Charles Perrault (1628-1703) was a French author best known for his contribution to the creation of the fairy-tale genre. His most notable works include "Little Red Riding Hood," "Cinderella," "Puss in Boots," "The Sleeping Beauty," and "Bluebeard." Many of his tales have been adapted into operas, ballets, plays, and films.

Gorgeous, imaginative edition of a classic!

Prior to the release of Disney's gorgeous new Cinderella, I stumbled across this new storybook edition of the classic story by Charles Perrault, lavishly illustrated by Camille Rose Garcia. I'm not going to comment on the story here (which I love), but rather on this volume's effectiveness as a vehicle for transmitting the classic story in a fresh way. On that score, Garcia succeeds in spades. this is a gorgeous volume, filled with eye-popping swathes of color on every spread. The illustrations bring the Cinderella story to life with all of the quirk, charm, and energy of a Tim Burton film, sure to appeal to readers looking for something outside the norm represented by more traditional incarnations of the famous rags-to-riches princess. Whether you are looking to add Perrault's original classic to your library for the first time or expand on your collection, this beautifully illustrated hardback is a worthy addition to the ever-expanding world of fairy tale related literature.

Classic story with amazing adult illustration!

This book is the story of Cinderella, which as a little girl I was really familiar with. As an adult now, the story is still classic and loved, but the illustrations by Camille Rose Garcia make it edgy and interesting to go back and read as an adult. I now keep this book on my coffee table and everyone that visits picks it up right away and is drawn immediately to the illustration. Everyone also agrees that this book is one of a kind.

It's a great one.

This book isn't about the book...we know the story. It's a great one...I and most people are buying this book because of Camille Rose Garcia. Her artwork is breathtaking. My wife turned me on to her and we now have all (?) of the books and the new one "Mirror Black Mirror" on it's way right now. One of my favorite artists working and may she live and paint a thousand years.
