I'm likely to continue pointing out the various pluses and minuses of every new Let Dai release.
It doesn't look like Let Dai's going to learn any time soon that saying less is MORE. It was there in the other books too, but more than ever Jaehee's inner thoughts are getting irritating. His and Dai's outward dialogue is enough to bring on the emotions and appreciation for the scene, but for some reason the author insists on having Jaehee say something melodramatic to himself EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. A part that could have been perfectly lovely in that funny semi-romantic goofy way was quickly undermined by Jaehee's routine unspoken outburst of his "soul screaming out in desperation against the world!" or something to that effect.
It feels strange to say, but even though this is the book where Jaehee and Dai approach having a physical relationship for the first time, it's not the most interesting part of the book. It's the SISTERS who have the genuinely eyecatching moments in this volume, but it's actually a pleasant surprise that saved this book from getting a three-star rating. EunHyung is shown being vindictive, wild...a perfectly understandable reaction after her ordeal. You admire her anger at Jaehee's tranparent hypocrisy. Then you pity her when she lashes out, wanting so badly to be strong but knowing her fear keeps her helpless.
Her sister Yoonuen, because of how she feels about Jaehee and Dai, is caught in a confused mess because there is no longer anyone she can trust to help, or even want to help. Jaehee and Dai are now together and won't (or can't) think much about the feelings of others. Dai's older brother, whose relationship to Dai Yoonuen does not yet know, sticks around Yooneun with sweet words and unknown motives...Yooneun is smart enough not to take him for face value, but it's only a matter of time before something happens between the two.
The awkward language refuses to correct itself, so I guess we should just be resigned to it. The art is much the same, but the artist seems to be experimenting with freer body movements, which can be both good and bad...it fits the humor but it's not as "pretty." Ironically, the covers just keep getting better and better. The neutral-toned front is even more beautiful in real life than in the picture, and the back has an extremely charming picture of Dai and Jaehee together.
