This book is a great time! It combines all the best elements of the paranormal with a spine-chilling mystery. Although short, it is a well-told story full of twists and turns. The author has a light easy-going touch with a descriptive style that draws the reader into the action. Although a little light on the shape-shifting aspect of the characters, the story explores other aspects of the supernatural, drawing inspiration from Viking mythology. This use of mythology in a modern way opens up a plethora of new ideas for the genre. "Valkyrie's Vengeance" is a nice easy read, perfect for unwinding after work or on a Sunday afternoon.

exciting easy read

This is an exciting easy read following Victoria as she gets a message from the Norse Goddess Freya to free abducted children. Interspersed throughout the storyline is her sorrow over the memories of the tragic loss of her parents, pack and Daniel, the hunter she loved.
I love how the author brings the story to a spiritual fantasy feeling with conversations between Victoria and the Goddess. Even the addition of the hunters who are lead by Jake the father of her deceased love and who blame her for his death adds an intriguing twist to the story with them wanting to kill her.
Let’s not forget krampus the evil child thief. This part for me was well written and though scary it didn’t make me want to not read that part nor give me nightmares. In other words it was the right amount of scary to impact the reader and add to the storyline.
But things aren’t always as they seem and sometimes throughout the story you can see the pain in the father and Victoria over the loss of Daniel. The hate they both feel for each other and how they pull together to save the children.
This is a cliffhanger and not an HEA but it is a story that pulls you in so you have to read the next book to see what happens next. I give it 4 STARS.

***I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, Lovers of Paranormal.***
It was definitely an interesting setup/plot/characters for this book, I'm just not entirely sure how I feel about it, I'm kind of torn with lots of things that I didn't like and some that I did enjoy.
I like the idea of Norse mythology, I'm not entirely knowledgeable about it, which was why this book held so much intrigue for me. However it seemed like the plot was a little jumpy and uneven which didn't allow me to connect to the characters as much as I'd like. Sometimes it felt rushed, but assuming this seemed like more of a novella that could maybe have explained it.
I was incredibily upset many times with the events that did occur, too much sadness for me for a book...I'm a HEA type of girl for sure, so I always get slightly turned off with lots of death and sadness.
Either way, the best way for me to capture my feelings when I finished this book was to say it was, interesting. I might be swayed to continue reading the series to see how it all works out, but if it continues at this rate, I'm not sure how I'll feel about it.

GIVE THIS A CHANCE...WELL WORTH IT

What a terrific read. Meet Victoria, a werewolf and alpha of her pack. She is also a priestess of Freya and a handmaiden to Odin. Quite a lineage there...lol. Victoria is also torn with guilt over the death of her lover....a hunter named Daniel Barrett. Hunters and werewolves seldom get along but such was not the case with these two. Daniels father slaughtered Victorias pack and her parents thinking she had killed his son. Now, Victoria has to team up with Daniel's father, Jake, to kill a supernatural predator who is taking children. The truce is tentative at beats, but they realize it is necessary for the kill. What happens next is nothing short of tragedy in the making. Victoria swears revenge...but will it be enough ??? Will these two be able to come to terms and will the truth finally come out to mend the rift, pain and guilt that these two are carrying. I hope so. This book is an introduction to this series...it is short and a terrific read.
