I am currently going through a divorce. It became quite a bit complex as I have little to no experience with law in general and none with Family Law. John Schuman's book is an excellent guide to the layperson who is going through or planning to go through a divorce.
Further to reading the book I went on to hire John Schuman from Devry Smith Frank Llp Law as my Family Lawyer. John is a friendly guy who takes time to answer any questions you may have. I would not hesitate to recommend this book or John as a Family Lawyer. I would also like to note that he always put the interest of the children first and attempted to resolve things in a reduced conflict fashion. My ex-spouse selected a high conflict lawyer who was quite sloppy and difficult; however John maintained composure and always focused on logic and being reasonable.
Again, it is an excellent book that even a few of my friends have borrowed and wish they would have read it prior to their divorce.
